In the early days of television, the only way to control them was to use physical buttons on the back or front. To change channels, volume, and adjust settings by going to the TV set. But with the addition of the remote, things changed completely.

It gave the power to control the TV sitting far away. Remotes use infrared lights to send commands to the TV. There is no doubt that remotes are very useful. But one thing is very common with remotes, everyone loses them once in a while.

We all have those times when we want to change a channel or adjust the volume but can’t find the remote. This common problem becomes more common when the size of the remote is small. The one tool we all have in our house with a small remote is heroine FireStick.

They are so small that one can easily lose them. If you have lost the firestick remote. This is the article you should stick to. I have provided five ways to temporarily control your FireStick until you get your FireStick Remote back.

5 Ways to Use the Amazon Firestick If You’ve Lost the Remote

1. Use the Amazon Fire TV App

If you have lost your Amazon FireStick remote then you are not alone. We all go through this. there is nothing to worry about. You can easily control it with your smartphone. All you have to do is install the Amazon Fire TV app (Android, iOS – free). Once you have downloaded the app, log in using your Amazon account.

The Fire TV app will automatically detect the Fire TV once you’ve signed in to your Amazon account. Select your Fire TV by tapping on it. This will only work if your smartphone and Fire TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Once you try to pair FireStick on your smartphone you will be asked to enter a 4 digit PIN. That pin will be shown on your TV screen. Simply enter the PIN.

At last, you will get UI like the original FireStick remote. You’ll have options like adjusting settings, firing up Alexa, and almost everything else possible with the original remote.

2. Use the Amazon Fire TV app without Wi-Fi

What to do if you don’t have a Wi-Fi network in your home. In that case, your smartphone and FireStick cannot connect to the same network then the above method will not work at all. But you can always use Mobile Hotspot as Wi-Fi. But keep in mind that you will need two smartphones to use the Amazon Fire TV app without Wi-Fi. First for tethering and second for installing apps. You have to first start with the smartphone that you want to use as the tethering device.

Open Settings go to Wi-Fi & networks and then Hotspot & tethering. You will get a Wi-Fi hotspot. Under Hotspot, the setting renames the Wi-Fi network to be the same Wi-Fi network it was previously connected to. Change not just the name but also the password to make it the same as the password for the previous Wi-Fi network that FireStick was connected to.

If you do this then your FireStick will not be able to be distinguished as a separate network. It will take it as the same old Wi-Fi network. After changing the name and password. Turn on Wi-Fi tethering. Once Wi-Fi tethering is on, restart your TV. After restarting, the Fire TV will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Now you can complete the rest of the process on the second smartphone on which you want to install the Fire TV app. Connect that smartphone to the Wi-Fi network that you just created in the first smartphone. Install Amazon Fire TV app (Android/iOS – Free) once Wi-Fi is connected. After downloading the app, log in to your Amazon account.

Your Fire TV will appear thereafter you log in. Try connecting with it now. You will be asked to enter a 4 digit PIN. It will be sent to your TV screen. Just got that pin and enter it in the app. Once done, Remote UI will be available in the app. You can send commands using that virtual remote on your smartphone.
