We all know what a website is and how it is made. Since the time coronavirus has come, many people have created their website and have earned a lot from it. Like someone has made a movie website, someone has a songs website, and someone has learned.
That is if we want any information about anything today, then we just have to go to Google once and search for that topic (keyword) and many websites related to it will come in front of us.
But initially, there is a problem in making any website. Which are the files size of the upload media. Meaning that when we create any of our new websites, the maximum upload file size that we get initially on WordPress is 2MB.
Because of this, we are not able to put more good photos, videos, or songs on our website. Because of this many people are not able to upgrade their website to the level that they want to do. On the other hand, some people also stop working on their websites.
Other people try to increase the maximum upload file size of their WordPress to any developers who can help them. But the developers charge you some money in return for this work.
But today we will tell you two such methods, with the help of which you will be able to increase the maximum upload file size of your WordPress automatically and you will not even need to pay any developer for this. That means your money will also be saved.
Ways to increase upload media file size on WordPress
We can increase the upload media file size on our WordPress in two ways.
- Increase upload file size with the help of coding.
- Increase upload file size php settings.
Here no one will use any plugin to increase the upload file size on their WordPress. Because using the plugin makes a big difference in the speed of our website. Which is not good for our website at all.
Also, we cannot rely on any plugin so easily. Because we do not know whether that plugin is good for the health of our website or not. Therefore, here we will increase the upload file size, one with the help of coding, and the other with the help of PHP.
1. Increase upload media file size with the help of coding
To increase the upload media file size with the help of coding, we must first log in to the control panel or Plesk panel of our hosting. If your hosting is on the control panel, then to login to your control panel, you just have to search in Google’s search bar by adding /cpanel next to your website.
For example, if the name of our website is techaudhary, then we have to search techaudhary.com/cpanel in the search bar to open our control panel. And after that, you have to open it by entering your id & password.
If your website is on the Plesk panel, then you have to search by putting “:8443” in front of your website. For example “techaudhary.com:8443” after doing this you just have to enter your id & password and you will reach the home page of your Plesk panel.
Now you have to go inside the file manager of your website.
After this, many files will come in front of you, out of which you have to go under “httpdocs”. After going inside it, you will see another file named “.htaccess” which you have to open.
After opening it, you have to copy the complete code of your PHP. You will get this code inside a PDF by clicking on the download button given below.
After copying the code, whatever code is written inside the “.htaccess” files, you have to go to the bottom of that code and at the bottom, you will see written. Just above this, you have to paste the code of your PHP, after that, you have to save this file of yours. After which this code of yours will be applied to your website.
After saving these files, you have to go to your WordPress and check whether your upload file size has increased or not. Your WordPress upload media file size will increase by 99%.
But this code does not work properly on any hosting, due to which your website also stops running. If this is happening to you too, then do not apply this code on your website. You can easily increase the upload media file size of your WordPress by increasing the other methods given below. Due to this your website will also not have any problem.
2. Increase upload media file size php settings
If your WordPress upload media file size has not increased with the help of php code, then you have to apply another method. For this, you have to go to the home page of the Control Panel / Plesk Panel of your hosting. After going to the home page, here you will see a folder written PHP Settings, which you have to open.
After opening PHP Settings, you have to scroll down a bit, then here you will see some options, such as memory limit, max execution time, etc.
Here you can increase the maximum execution time, max input time, memory limit, post max size and upload max filesize as per your wish or as per your requirement. Like I have kept the time for myself as 600 seconds and file size 1024 MB (1GB). After increasing it, when you save it, then the upload media file size will increase on your WordPress as well.
This technique will 100% increase your WordPress upload media file size.
